Some of our Edinburg readers undoubtedly know the songs “Two Minutes to Midnight” and “The Trooper,” and are familiar with Iron Maiden’s skinny, menacing mascot, Eddie. The British metal band has been a fixture on the music scene for 40-plus years.
One of their fans among the throng at a San Antonio concert by the band was recently taken into custody by Bexar County Sheriff’s deputies and charged with aggravated kidnapping.
According to a San Antonio TV station’s news report, the man’s friend posted a photo of a pair of Iron Maiden tickets to the weekend show, along with an image of seat location. Law enforcement officials in Austin apparently noticed the post and suspected that the man would accompany his buddy to the Saturday concert at the AT&T Center.
Bexar County deputies were alerted by Austin cops. They then met the suspect at the spots shown in the ill-advised Facebook post and arrested him there without incident.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office later added a social media post of their own: “Fugitive’s Concert Cut Short by Facebook and B.C.S.O.”
While police might chortle over the bust, it is no laughing matter to the man arrested. The article does not contain any information about his alleged crimes, but he faces the very real possibility that he might spend years behind bars if he is convicted.
Before speaking with police or prosecutors, those facing similar charges should speak to an attorney experienced in criminal defense. You can contact Edinburg’s Sanchez Law Firm for more information.
