The Friday night began with a group of young professionals out on the town. It ended with accusations of sexual assault.
Two Texas doctors north of Edinburg are now under investigation for sexual assault, though neither of them has been arrested on that charge. One of the doctors has had drug charges filed against him following a raid of his West Lake Hills home that was part of the sex crime investigation.
Austin police and an assistant District Attorney have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.
Police said that during their search of the West Lake Hills home, they found a glass vial labeled "morphine" and in a dresser drawer, plastic bags containing a white powder later determined to be cocaine.
He is facing drug possession charges.
The woman in the case told police that she was out with the group and had several drinks at one bar and a couple more at a second establishment.
Phone records indicate that she booked a car ride home just before 2 a.m.
She said that the next thing she remembers is waking up in a strange house with the West Lake Hills doctor sexually assaulting her.
She said she awoke from subsequent blackouts to assaults by both men.
She also said one of the men later drove her home and that she was able to retrace the drive home to find the location of the assault. She also said one of the doctors also sent her texts following that night.
Both men have retained criminal defense attorneys.
They clearly understand that though they do not face sexual assault charges at this point, they need legal representation that can protect their rights and freedom at every step of the process.
